I’m all about that street food

Before I properly start this post, I would first like to apologize for not posting so often lately. I actually just started a new job at a new company and won’t have as much time to eat out and blog about it as I did before – or at least not in the first few weeks until I’ve settled in.

There’s something special about street food that makes it so much better than any other type of food. I’m literally obsessed with it. It’s cheap, it tastes amazing, there are a billion options to chose from and the ambience at street food markets is the best. Unless you have to queue for half an hour to get your lunch, which actually happened to me a couple of days ago. But to be honest, once you start eating, you realize that the wait was absolutely worth it.

Last week, somehow I ended up eating from four street food traders. I seriously don’t know how that happened…

– Only Jerkin –

For some reason, last week I was craving fried chicken so much, and I had never actually tried a food truck that sold it, so I made that an excuse to make my way to KERB at The Gherkin on Thursday and get my hands on some ginger-beer battered-nuggets. FYI, they are triple dipped, TRIPLE DIPPED. Best-nuggets-EVER. And I lived in Kentucky so trust me, I’m a fried chicken pro.

– Hanks Po Boys –

If you’ve read my first post, you know that Hanks is my absolute favorite trader. Not only because of the food, but also the people that work there are always so lovely, and that is so important for me; if the staff at a restaurant/food truck/cafe is rude, I won’t go to that place ever again, even if the food was nice. I just can’t. It’s happened to me a few times and one of them was at Oblix at The Shard. I would write a post about it to tell you what happened, but I don’t want to waste my time. But anyway… just go try Hanks out if you get the chance and you’ll probably love them as much as I do!

– Burger and Beyond –

If you’ve read my post about Bleeker Burger, you know that one my of main goals this year is to try all 15 burger’s from TimeOut’s ´London’s best burgers’ list. Well, I can check another one off that list! Although it was slightly small for the price, this burger was really, really tasty and I will definitely be going back. Perhaps I’ll go for the double (or triple?) cheese burger next time.

– Yolkin Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches –

I wasn’t sure if I should add this to this post as it is actually not in a market, but it’s still a small trader. And on top of that, it’s delicious, so why the heck not. Basically, the owner used to bake macarons and realized that she was throwing away too many yolks (macarons only use the egg whites), so she thought that she could start making ice-cream with these instead and BOOM, she came up with the brilliant idea of putting the ice cream and macarons together to make the most delicious Ice Cream Sandwich I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and go try these this weekend.
