I’ve never taken a PR holiday as seriously as National Chocolate Week. I think I had around three different types of chocolates every day, multiple times a day. It was intense. It doesn’t help that everyone in the office is as obsessed with chocolate as I am, if not more; so it just kept coming and coming. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, peanut butter chocolate, coffee beans covered in chocolate… You name it, I ate it.
But when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, one of my work colleagues offered me her invitation to the gala evening of The Chocolate Show because she wasn’t going to be able to make it. A night full of free chocolate? Yes please.
The Chocolate Show is UK’s biggest event dedicated to chocolate. With over 100 participants exhibiting everything from brownies to flapjacks and chocolate bars, the best to describe how I felt is overwhelmed. I don’t think I would’ve been able to try every single product even if I tried, but I was very happy with the ones I did go for. Below are my top 5 favorite ones from the night.
I am a big fan of chocolate covered nuts, but I must say my favorite of them all is white chocolate covered pistachios. Now imagine how good these were that they had one a Great Taste Award. THAT GOOD.
Luxury flapjacks made from scratch in Devon by two women that have a mutual love for flapjacks, but had never found one that ticked all the boxes, so they decided to make it! They’re tasty, rich, chewy, and most importantly, they’re HUGE. Simon bought one and could barely finish it.
Is it too bad that I had never heard of this brand before this show? One of the best chocolates I’ve ever had; couldn’t leave without buying some for the office!
Only thing I regret from the night was not buying a jar of their pistachio spread. It is probably one of the most delicious things I’ve ever tasted, but for some reason I decided not to buy it. One of my colleagues attended the show today and they had completely sold out, that’s how insane it was! The good news is I can order it online.
Crema de Café
This isn’t actually the name of the brand, but I spent a pretty long time on Google trying to find it and unfortunately I wasn’t lucky. Anyway, it was a South American stand that, besides selling amazing chocolate bars, they had this Nutella-like milk coffee spread that was to die for. I need to have it in my life so I’ll keep searching for it and update this once I find it.
