Sundays are a bit of a strange day. I am always torn between hanging out with friends who I never get to see during the week, or staying at home all day doing absolutely nothing.
Today, I really wanted to go out and have brunch, but I signed up for the gym on Friday and played 1.5h of tennis yesterday, so as much as I wanted to do something this morning, my body was begging to stay at home and chill. And so did I. So instead of going out to central London, having to deal with the tourists and the tube (and of course the 40 pounds that a decent brunch for two costs) I decided to make a little trip to the supermarket and buy all the necessities to make an amazing brunch from the comfort of our own home.
It was so good, cheap and filling. Why didn’t I think of doing this before?
On the menu we had:
- Freshly squeezed orange juice (brought to you by Tropicana)
- Coffee (instant)
- Mushrooms with scrambled eggs and bacon
- Avocado (is brunch even brunch without avocado?)
- Yogurt with granola and berries
- Bonne Maman jam (Simon suggested we bought that one, he was feeling fancy)
Also, now that we’ve moved to our new apartment, we have a balcony which we’re actually not using that much, so it was nice to eat out there today! I did have to put a few layers on because of the wind tough…
I hope this post inspires you to create a delicious brunch at home when you’re in the mood for one but can’t be bothered to leave the house! Just remember that you don’t have to go out when you’re feeling lazy and spend money when you can eat twice as much and spend half of the money. And most importantly, not having to take your PJ’s off.
