I like to start my day by having a nice and filling breakfast. Nothing helps me wake up more than knowing that a delicious meal is waiting for me as soon as I get up.
For a few months now, I’ve been having porridge every day. I started just having some oats with banana and maple syrup, but after a few months I got tired of it so I decided to experiment a bit, and now I add at least five toppings to my morning bowl of warm-goodness.
Below these two pictures, you’ll find the recipe for my every day morning porridge. If you want to move away from having plain oats – even if you’ve never been a fan of them – give these toppings a try, I’m sure you’ll love them!
Ingredients 1/2 cup jumbo rolled whole oats 1 cup almond milk 1 tbsp fat free Greek yogurt 1 tbsp maple syrup (I add a lot more than this, depends on how obsessed you are with it) 1 handful blueberries 1tbsp pumpkin seeds 1 tbsp milled linen Method Cook the oats with the almond milk following the instructions on the pack. I'm very old fashioned so I cook mine on the hob at medium to low heat for around around 20 minutes, but please feel free to just pop them in the microwave. Once they're cooked, put them in a small bowl, add the maple syrup and stir well so it's evenly spread. Then add the Greek yogurt and blueberries. To top it off, add the pumpkin seeds and linen, or any other nuts and seeds of your liking. I change these up all the time so just add whatever you want! Sometimes I add cacao nibs and chia seeds instead and it tastes just as good.
