The sun in England is a rare thing. The sun in England and decent weather is even more rare. But the sun in England and warm weather is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Ok I might be exaggerating a bit, but it is not very common, so when it does happen the last thing you want to do is spend the day working in an office or even worse, being bored at home.
I try to make the most out of days like these by being outside doing, well, anything, as long as I’m outside. I go for long runs, workouts in the park, long walks alongside the river… But my favorite thing to do is eating outdoors, DUH. This past Saturday was one of those days, and one of my colleagues invited me to join her and her friend to go indoor climbing at The Arch Climbing Wall, followed by lunch at Maltby Street Market. Of course, I said yes. I had done rock climbing a few times when I was a kid and I loved it, but this time it was a bit different to what I had tried in the past… it was freestyle wall climbing, meaning no harness! SO COOL!
After burning a few calories we headed to the market to gain those back. Surprisingly, I had a few drinks (wut?) but forgot to take pictures of them… One of them – and my personal favorite – was a Bermondsey Dry with Rose Lemonade at Jensen’s distillery, a MUST if you like gins, and it’s only a fiver!
For lunch, I FINALLY tried The Cheese Truck, a food stall that serves the absolute best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever tried. And once you try them, I’m sure they will be your favorite ones too.
I decided to go for the Queso Chihuahua, Chorizo and Jalapeño Salsa grilled cheese, HOOOOOLY CRAP, IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. If you decide to try The Cheese Truck and you’re a sucker for all-things-spicy like myself, go for this one. I will go back as soon as I get the chance to i.e. next weekend.
