I am the worst blogger ever. I said a few blog posts ago that I was going to post every day this week, and I haven’t… whoops. But oh well, such is life. I will post twice today instead.
I’m sure everyone has heard the saying “not everything that shines is gold”, right? Well, to me that saying can also be applied to Mexican food; “not everything that’s called taco or burrito is Mexican”. If there are a few Mexican’s reading this I am pretty sure that they will relate to this. I’ll give you a few examples so you understand what I mean. “Poco Loco” for the ones reading from Tenerife, is NOT Mexican. It’s actually one of the worst Mexican places I’ve ever been to. If you want to go to a good Mexican place in Tenerife go to “El Chapulín”, or my parents house, but that’d be a bit weird. “Taco Bell” is NOT Mexican (I think this was pretty obvious though). And what might surprise a few reading this from in London, “Wahaca” is NOT Mexican.
I’m not saying that the food doesn’t taste good, I like Wahaca! It’s just not real Mexican, I guess it’s Mexican-inspired (or maybe Mexican-wannabe?). Whatever you wanna call it I guess.
Anyway, I wanted to write this post to show you a few Vegan options you can get at Wahaca, as a went there a couple of days ago with some friends.
The drink was some kind of non-alcoholic piña colada, it was good! And food wise I ordered “Winter Vegetable” tacos and “Corn, black bean and guacamole” tostadas, I just asked them to serve it without the feta. Easy peasy. As I said before, they were good, not amazing but good, but just not Mexican at all.
I want to ask something to all the Mexican’s out there, can you relate to what I’ve said on this post? And if you’re from London or have been here, what’s your favorite Mexican place? I want to try it!
